Each year, the annual LRE Forum organised by the LRE Foundation brings together members, partners and tourism stakeholders to hear updates from experts, network, and attend specialised travel trade events.
After the successful 2023 event in Florence, the LRE Forum will be back in 2024 in Aachen (Germany) between 26-29 February and promises to be another exciting edition. Organised in collaboration with LRE Germany and LRE NRW, the programme will be designed to encourage partners and stakeholders to develop new ideas and practices through a selection of exciting activities:
- Engaging panel discussions about WWII history, memory transmission and remembrance

Networking opportunities with WWII-related organisations, tourism and cultural heritage institutions and travel trade operators
- Organised site visits to local memorials and museums

A great occasion to meet with other members, exchange ideas and best practices across the network and hear the Foundation’s latest updates on past projects and upcoming plans.
LRE Conference
27 February
An event to inform and inspire all the Foundation’s stakeholders and anyone interested in WWII history with interesting in-depth keynotes, panel discussions and outstanding speakers.
LRE Gala
27 February
A special dining event for the members of the LRE Foundation, its key partners and sponsors.
LREXPO
28 February
A thematic trade show where representatives from remembrance sites, museums, and tourism destinations network with the travel trade stakeholders to offer unique tourism products and to form partnerships to reach a broader international audience.
Site Visits
28-29 February
Pack your comfortable shoes and get ready to explore the surrandings of Aachen. Guided tours will be organised to visit the many of the museums and memorials telling the stories of Germany and North-Rhine-Westphalia during WWII, such as a tour in the Hürtgen Forest.
Travel to Aachen
By train
Aachen is located one hour and twenty minutes by train from Brussels. The city is also easily reachables from Duesseldorf (1h), Bonn (1h20) and Cologne (50 minutes).

By plane
Aachen has four international airports nearby: Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST), Duesseldorf Intl Airport (DUS), Cologne Bonn (CGN) and Brussels (BRU) with daily flights from destinations worldwide.
By car
With its strategic location in Germany on the border with Belgium and the Netherlands, Aachen is easily reachable by car. Please consult Google Maps to find the most convenient route for you.
